Irma Santana. Executive Director of Acercamiento Hispano de Carolina del Sur and Project Director for Adelante. Irma has been given several awards for her work in behalf of the Latino Community such as: International Volunteer of the year (1997), Fiesta Latina Award (1999) Kraft Community Award (1999), Citizens Building Communities, USC (2001). Women of Excellence, profile in The State newspaper (2002).

Ivan Segura: Native from Mexico, Mr. Segura holds a degree in financial administration and has a solid background in business administration and financial planning. Mr. Segura is poised to empower Adelante Project with new sources of funding, stronger and valuable partnerships and inclusion of new and effective services. Under his directive, Adelante Project has grown with the launched of two new programs: Contrasida Program and Angelito Project, and has obtained new sources of funding in addition to the original funds. His expertise in management has allowed Adelante Project to establish important collaborations with other agencies throughout the state. Always in the move, Mr. Segura is always looking for new ways to close the gap between Hispanics and Health Care.

Gloria Lemus. Community Liaison in Newberry, SC. Gloria holds a Physical Health Certification from the University of Guanajuato and has an outstanding experience in social working. Gloria has dedicated a lot of her time, including personal time, to develop a dynamic network in the Newberry area that allows a huge number of Latinos to be served by Adelante program. Gloria continuously implements new process and materials to facilitate the access to health services to the community. Due to her dedication and hard work Gloria has become one of the strengths of Adelante Project, her knowledge of the area of Newberry has allowed Adelante to establish partnerships with other organizations to broaden the range of services available to the Hispanic/Latino community.

Leticia Velez. Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Leticia has performed a steady and concise work to provide access to health services to the Latino Community in the Fairfield area. As well as Gloria in Newberry, Leticia is well known in her area for her time dedicated to improve the quality of life of the Hispanic/Latinos. Her people skills and dedication have made possible for the number of patients receiving health services to grow steadily. She is always in the look for new ideas to serve the Hispanics and have branch out her outreach activities with ESL and computer classes for Hispanics.

Lidia Navarrete: HIV Education Specialist. Lidia is a medical doctor from El Salvador, with a specialty in OB/GYN and ultrasound. She holds a Masters Degree in Theological Study and Counseling, from the Baptist Theological Seminary. Lidia’s outstanding work in the ContraSIDA program can be evaluated by the program huge success in its first months of work. Lidia has received several trainings in the HIV/AIDS field, which allows ContraSIDA to offer the services of Pre-test Counseling, Risk Reduction Counseling, Orasure Test, Post Test Consulting, among others. She is also running a free Medical Clinic to serve Hispanics in the First Baptist Church in Columbia
