Angelito Project Angelito promotes preventive healthcare for Latino children. The program takes advantage of the Latino cultural values to encourage healthy children living in a healthy family. To ensure the design and implementation of interventions that effectively improve the preventive healthcare for Hispanics, the program is based in several values of the Latin culture. The interventions are planned attending to significant demographic and cultural aspects such as Hispanic population growth, Hispanics healthcare, and Hispanic preventive healthcare culture. Angelito project pursues the achievement of the objectives established by Healthy People 2010. Healthy People 2010 is a comprehensive set of health objectives to be achieved over the first decade of the century. It is designed to serve as a roadmap for improving the health of all people in the United States. Healthy People 2010 is designed to achieve two overarching goals:
The Department of Health and Human Services selected six focus areas in which racial and ethnic minorities experience serious disparities in health access and outcomes: · Infant Mortality As a program geared to ultimately improve the quality of life of the Hispanic/Latino community in South Carolina, Angelito Project will focus its efforts in the target areas selected to eliminate health disparities for Healthy People 2010. |
