InspirARTE is a silent art auction benefiting Acercamiento Hispano (South Carolina Hispanic Outreach), the region’s oldest and largest non-profit organization serving the Hispanic community.

InspirARTE seeks to educate the public about the beauty and diversity of Latin American art, while supporting an organization that has seen the number of people seeking its services expand rapidly. Acercamiento Hispano receives grants for specific projects, but needs to supplement its operating budget through fundraisers such as InspirARTE.

Local artists will create artwork based on the works and styles of four great Latin American artists. The artists are enthusiastic about participating in this project because it gives them a chance to learn, explore, and expose themselves to a new audience. Based on initial reactions, we expect to have over one hundred pieces for sale and an equally impressive audience attendance.

“Inspirar” is a Spanish word meaning, “To inspire.” “InspirARTE also incorporates the Spanish word for art, “arte.” In the past few months, we have invited artists and art students in Columbia to study the art of four Latin American masters and to create works inspired by their styles, techniques and subjects. Several months ago, school art teachers around the Midlands began instructing students about the four Latin American artists and their techniques. We are proud to present the winning nine student competition pieces alongside the works of professional artists in this event. Midlands artists and students have inspired themselves by gaining insight into life in the other Americas. Today they offer their work to also inspire you.

The four artists whose influence you will see in the silent art auction represent four corners of Latin America.
